William Arthur BISHOP, , b. 9 Aug 1879, Detroit, Michigan; m. abt. 1899; d. 17 Mar 1937. His given name was Gvillamee L’Eveque or La’Vegue. He changed it to the english translation of Bishop. He was listed as a salesman in a liquor store in 1920. Both parents birthplace listed as New York. Can’t find him in the 1900 census or in the WWI NY Draft Index. He was a steward of the Elk’s Club and a bartender during prohibition, even though he personally did not drink. He had been born with a bad heart – it had a hole in it. He was a city doubles tennis champion. He attended school in Quebec.

Michael McNAMARA Sr. remembers that she lived with them for a very long time. He referred to her as ‘Gom’. The lamp we have belonged to her.

June 1978, Syracuse, Onondaga, New York; ssn 074-05-9920. Was this Joseph a brother to James SANTIFF?

Eileen Grace BISHOP, b. 7 May 1919, No. 803 West Colvin Street, Syracuse, Onondaga, New York; d. 29 Jan 2003, Sea Cliff, Nassau, New York. Her birth was announced in the Syracuse Herald, May 17, 1919. Grandma McNamara attended a private boarding school and was very proud of this fact. Actually, education was theme in her life, and she later became a beloved high school teacher in Sea Cliff NY. She was known to a generation of Sea Cliff residents as ‘Mrs. Mac’.
